Shelly O’Connor

Shelly started dancing at Lyndance Academy, Drogheda (Her Mam’s dance school) when she was only 2 years old. Since then she has trained at Coastal ballet, Drogheda, Jelli Studios (Liverpool), Liverpool Central Studios (Liverpool), the CentrePAC, London and has completed her training at Inchicore College of Further Education, Dublin.

Shelly has btec levels 2-6 and QQI level 6 in dance. She has completed courses in gymnastics and stretch with Acrotrix, Acrobatic Arts and Alixa.

Shelly’s genres include ballet, lyrical, jazz, gymnastics, technique, kicks, leaps and turns and strength and flexibility and commercial.

Shelly is a world champion dancer in lyrical, gymnastics and commercial. She has won many prestigious awards including a full scholarship to Jelli Studios, Liverpool, and a summer scholarship to the Institute of Arts, Barcelona.

Shelly taught at Lyndance Academy from 2016 to 2019. During that time her junior gymnastics team placed 2nd at Dance World, Braga, Portugal.

At Starlight Academy, her competitive dancers have won many titles, including all Ireland champion teams, duos and solos. Some of her students have won dance scholarships in Phoenix PAC, Dublin and Liverpool Central Studios. Some of her students performed on the main stage at Perform Ireland in the RDS in 2021.

Shelly’s dancers recently won best choreography, best technique and best personality at the Dance Empire Competition.
